Heat Warning Issued for Kakabeka Falls, Atikokan, Shebandowan – June 7 2020

THUNDER BAY – Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for Monday in the Superior West as well as Atikokan, Upsala, Raith and a large area of Camp Country west and south of Thunder Bay.

The weather service says temperatures will reach 30 degrees Celsius on Monday, before falling to 18 degrees Celsius on Monday night. Temperatures on Tuesday will reach 29 degrees Celsius again before a cooler air mass moves into the region.

This temperature change will also contribute to severe weather which is in the forecast.

Heat Warning in effect for:

  • Kakabeka Falls – Whitefish Lake – Arrow Lake
  • Atikokan – Shebandowan – Quetico Park
  • Upsala – Raith

The first heat event of the season will begin Monday and last through Tuesday.

Extreme heat affects everyone.

The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.

Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
