THUNDER BAY – AVIATION – Wasaya Airways is pleased to announce the appointment of James Ward to the Wasaya Airways LP Board of Directors.

James says, “I am honoured to have been chosen for the Director Position at Wasaya Airways. I have been involved with and have been working for our ownership communities for over 15 years now, with the first 10 years being at Wasaya.

Wasaya is where everything started for me, where relationships started, where friendships started, where knowledge of the north started and even where I met my wife Courtney. Courtney and I have been married for 3 years now and have a baby boy named Jett who is 8 months old.

“The last few years I have been wearing a couple different hats working for Kingfisher, Wunnumin, KI, Neskantaga, Nibinamik and Wapekeka as the CEO for Happy Time Tours, CEO for HT Leasing, CEO for Carrick Express, and Community Representative for a new Motel Studio 6 going up in Thunder Bay this year. I am also a board of directors for the Nishnawbe Aski Development Fund and own two other businesses, both serving Northern Ontario and our ownership communities.

“As a proud member of Fort William First Nation, born and raised in Thunder Bay, I am very much looking forward to helping the airline post COVID and working with the Wasaya ownership group to ensure future success for everyone. Meegwetch.”

Tom Morris, CEO and President of Wasaya Airways is excited to have James as part of the Wasaya once again, albeit in a different capacity. Morris states, “James’ knowledge of the airline is a huge asset. He knows from firsthand experience the history and values of Wasaya Airways and he understands the importance of the airline to the communities in Northwestern Ontario. James will bring forth a strong commitment to working with the airline and the people in the north. We are very happy to have him as part of our Board.”

“We are thrilled to welcome James to the board of Wasaya,” said Carmele Peter, President of EIC. “James’ wealth of knowledge of the Wasaya operations, values and communities combined with an entrepreneurial spirit will bring to the organization an all-encompassing leadership viewpoint. We look forward to working together to further grow the Wasaya airline.”
