Traffic Stop Yields $225k in Contraband Tobacco

DRYDEN – A major seizure of contraband tobacco in Dryden over the weekend.

On Saturday, May 16, 2020, Dryden Police Officers conducted a traffic stop as a result of a violation of the Highway Traffic Act. Upon further investigation, police officers had reason to believe the occupants were trafficking contraband tobacco.

A search of the vehicle revealed a large quantity of contraband Tobacco, with a street value of $225,000.00.

A 26-year-old male of Winnipeg, MB has been charged with Adult Trafficking in Contraband Tobacco; a 57-year-old male of Winnipeg, MB has been charged with Adult Trafficking in Contraband Tobacco and Adult Failure to Comply with a Release Order, and a 20-year-old female of Winnipeg, MB was also charged with Adult Trafficking in Contraband Tobacco.

All accused were released on an Undertaking and are scheduled to appear in court in Dryden on June 29, 2020.

None of the charges have been proven in court.
