THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – Heading into the Mother’s Day weekend, there are cooler temperatures coming.

For Thunder Bay, the weather this weekend is calling for a real mixed bag of conditions.

Environment Canada says for Saturday to expect a mix of sun and cloud. There will be a 30 percent chance of flurries early in the morning. Winds will be northwest 20 km/h gusting to 40 in the morning. Saturday’s high 10c. The wind chill will be an unseasonable minus 10 in the morning. For the day, the UV index 6 or high.

For the far north in Ontario, there is a blowing snow advisory issued by Environment Canada for Fort Severn / Washaho Cree Nation and Peawanuk First Nation.

Blowing snow advisory in effect for:

  • Fort Severn
  • Peawanuk

Blowing snow is expected tonight through Sunday.

The weather service advises that northerly winds will strengthen this morning across the region. These winds, combined with freshly falling snow, may give visibilities near zero at times from tonight through Sunday morning. Gusts of up to 70 km/h are expected.
