Fatal Motor Vehicle Accident in Red Lake Claims One Life

RED LAKE – On April 24, 2020 at approximately 3:30 am officers from the Red Lake/Ear Falls Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision in Madsen within the Municipality of Red Lake.

OPP report that a motor vehicle left the roadway on Mine Street and came to rest on the frozen body of water adjacent to the road. When police arrived, they located a deceased adult female at the scene. Northwest Emergency Medical Services (NWEMS) and the Red Lake Fire Department both attended the scene to provide their services.

The cause of the collision is under investigation by the Traffic Collision Investigation (TCI) unit of the Highway Safety Division (HSD).

Identity of the deceased is being withheld until notification of the next-of-kin has been completed.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or has information relating to it, to contact police at 1-888-310-1122.
