Stunt Driver Gets Jets into Charges at Full Speed

Thunder Bay – A police officer never knows what the day will bring. Thursday, a Thunder Bay Police Service officer was conducting traffic enforcement near the corner of Golf Links Road and Cascade Crescent around 9 am.

During this time the officer observed a motorist traveling at a rate of speed of 114 km/h in an area with a maximum speed limit posted of 50 km/h.

The motorist was traveling southbound on Golf Links Road and the speed was confirmed by the officer’s LIDAR.

The officer conducted a traffic stop without further incident.

The driver, a 46-year-old Thunder Bay man, was then charged for stunt driving under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act. The vehicle was towed and is being impounded for seven days as a result of the stunt driving.

The Thunder Bay Police Service would like to remind the public to drive with caution, be aware of posted speed limits and drive in accordance with them.
