Guelph, ON – The Lakehead Thunderwolves women’s volleyball team will return home to Thunderwolves without a win, falling 3-0 to the Guelph Gryphons Saturday afternoon.
“Tough end to the last road trip of the year,” said head coach Craig Barclay.
“There were moments of really good but we could not sustain it.”
The Gryphons took the first set 25-11. The Thunderwolves had a great start to the second set and were ahead 16-15 at the technical time out. The Thunderwolves were unable to hold on to the led, however, as Guelph took the second set 25-17. The Gryphons came out hot and dominated the third set, defeating the Thunderwolves 25-7.
After their match against the Gryphons, the Thunderwolves volleyball team was able to cheer on the Thunderwolves wrestling team who were competing in the OUA Championship.
“Special shout out to our wrestlers, it was great to see them compete at Guelph,” said Barclay.
The Thunderwolves will now regroup and return to Thunder Bay to play the rest of the 2019-2020 season at home, starting with a match against the RMC Paladins on Saturday, Feb. 8.
“We are looking forward to getting back in our gym and finishing the year at home,” said Barclay.
