81-Year-Old Man Faces Impaired Driving Charge

THUNDER BAY – The OPP report that on November 28, 2019, at approximately 7:48 p.m., officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a three-vehicle collision on Highway 61, north of Broadway Avenue.

The driver of a Toyota sedan and a Jeep were stopped at a stop sign when they were struck from behind by the driver of a Honda sedan. There were no injuries reported. The vehicles did sustain moderate damage.

Officers attended the scene and determined that the driver of the Honda sedan had been consuming alcohol. The driver was arrested and further tests were conducted.

As a result, David SIMPSON an 81-year-old man from Longlac ON was arrested and charged with Operate a Motor Vehicle While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration Over 80 mgs of Alcohol contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.

The accused is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on January 3, 2020, to answer to the charge.
