Kenora – Two Charged with Drug and Firearm Charges Following OPP Investigation

KENORA – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) and the Kenora OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), have charged 2 accused on Tuesday, November 5, 2019.

The charges stem from an ongoing investigation conducted by members of the Kenora OPP. The investigation concluded with the arrest of the two individuals.

The individuals were arrested and charged on the north side of Kenora. Police seized 22 grams of Cocaine, Canadian Currency and other drug paraphernalia items used in the drug trafficking trade. There were also two firearms and other weapons seized in the investigation. The street value of the drugs seized is approximately $2,200.

As a result of the investigation the following people have been charged and held in custody pending a bail hearing:

 Dalton SAARI, age 24 of Winnipeg, Manitoba has been charged with:

  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm Section 92 Criminal Code of Canada (CC)
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose x 2, Section 88 CC
  • Adult Carry Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition in a Careless Manner, Section 86(1)
  • Careless Storage of a Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition, Section 86(1) CC
  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm x 2, Section 95(a) CC
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, Section 354(1)(a) CC
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm, Section 92(1) CC
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Cocaine, Section 5 (2) CDSA
  • Possession of a Schedule IV Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, Section 5 (2) CDSA
  • Kayla CARLSON, age 21 from Kenora has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Section 88 CC
  • Careless Storage of a Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition, Section 86(1) CC
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm x 2, Section 92(1) CC
  • Possession of Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm, Section 95(a) CC
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000, Section 354(1)(a)CC
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of Trafficking-Cocaine, Section 5(2) CDSA
  • Possession of a Schedule IV Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, Section 5(2) CDSA

Both accused appeared in bail court on Thursday, November 6, 2019, to answer to the charges.
