Winnipeg – Police Investigating Assault on Three Year Old

WINNIPEG – Police in Winnipeg are investigating a crime that has many in the city very upset and angry. A 3-year-old was assaulted and remains in medical care.

On October 30, 2019, at approximately 2:35 am CDT, emergency personnel responded to a residence in the 300 block of Pritchard Avenue following a report of a child who had been seriously assaulted.

Upon arrival, police officers found a 3-year-old male child who was located suffering from significant upper-body injuries. The child was transported to the hospital in critical condition where he remains at this time.

Police are reporting that the child was stabbed while sleeping. The family is alleging that the mother of the child’s ex-boyfriend is the perpetrator. According to the family, they allege the child’s mother and her ex-boyfriend got into a fight and the ex-boyfriend then  assaulted her. The family then allege the ex-boyfriend stabbed the boy in his bed after returning to the home.

This investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).

None of the allegations made by the family have been proven in court. Police are not releasing the name of the mother or the injured son to protect them.
