OPP Arrest Suspect in Geraldton Property Crimes

GERALDTON – NEWS – On Tuesday October 1, 2019, members of the Greenstone Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with members of the Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) arrested a 23 year old for property crime offences.

Due to the recent spike in property crime in Greenstone, police have been conducting focused patrols in the area. Just before midnight, officers who were in the area, were alerted to a report of a person attempting to gain entry into a parked vehicle. Police arrived on scene and arrested the suspect after a short foot pursuit. Several items of suspected stolen property were recovered at the scene.

Jeff Junior (JJ) OGUSHING, age 23, of Geraldton, ON has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences.

  1. Mischief- Interfere with property
  2. Fail to comply with Probation Order
  3. Fail to comply with Recognizance

OGUSHING was held in custody where he made a brief court appearance by video in the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay, Ontario on October 2, 2019 and was remanded into custody.

This is an active investigation and police continue to investigate. Police are asking any persons with information related to this occurrence or any others, to contact the OPP Communication Centre at 1-888-310-1122. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS). Police are also appealing to members of the public who may have been victim to a property crime and have not yet reported it to police, to do so, to assist them in their investigation.
