THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – The southern parts of Northwestern Ontario are likely to receive significant rainfall over the next twenty-four hours. This is likely to add to the flood advisory update issued by the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority earlier this week.

There is also a gale warning in effect for Lake Superior and Lake Nipigon.

However for those headed to the Full Moon Memory Walk or the Wake The Giant concert on Saturday the forecast is for sunny skies with a high of  19c.

Special weather statement in effect for:

  • City of Thunder Bay
  • Superior West

Environment Canada says significant rainfall is possible tonight and on into Friday.

Rain is expected to spread over Northwestern Ontario this afternoon and this evening. Rain, at times heavy, will continue through tonight before gradually tapering to scattered showers late Friday.

Total rainfall amounts of 30 to 50 mm are expected by midday Friday. Locally higher amounts are also possible however there remains some uncertainty regarding these higher amounts. Rainfall warnings may be required as the event draws closer.
