THUNDER BAY – UPDATED – Hold and Secures Lifted The Hold and Secures have been lifted at at Westgate Collegiate and Vocational, Agnew H. Johnston Public School, Edgewater Park Public School, Kingsway Park Public School and Westmount Public School.
EARLIER: Westgate Collegiate and Vocational Institute is currently under a hold and secure due to a threat.
As a precaution, Agnew H. Johnston PS, Edgewater Park PS, Kingsway Park PS, and Westmount Ps are currently under a Hold and Secure.
UPDATE II: Hold and Secure have been lifted for: the Catholic Education Centre and all South Side Schools.
Update – The Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board reports, “As a precaution from a threat at a neighbouring school, all southside schools, excluding St. Jude are placed in a hold and secure.
“The threat is currently being investigated by Thunder Bay Police Services, and the regular dismissal is anticipated with the Hold and Secure precaution to be lifted by the end of the school day.
“We appreciate your understanding during these circumstances, as our students and staff are always our priority.”
The Thunder Bay Police Service is investigating an alleged threat involving Westgate Collegiate and Vocational Institute.
Officers were dispatched to the school at about 11:30 am on Monday, September 9 after several students reported seeing a disturbing post on social media.
As a result the police are now on scene and investigating. Lakehead Public Schools has placed Westgate under a hold and secure. The public school board and the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board have placed a number of other schools on hold and secures as a precaution.
