THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Police Service report that an officer was assaulted by a 23-year-old man on Saturday.

Police say that “officers with the uniform patrol branch were dispatched to a parking lot in the 1000 block of Dawson Road just before 7:30 pm on Saturday, September 7 following a 911 call from a citizen.

The 911 call indicated a male was possibly in medical distress and rolling around in the parking lot. When officers arrived they located a male matching the description given by the caller.

Officers determined the male was heavily intoxicated and were concerned for his wellbeing. Paramedics arrived on the scene and suggested the male should be medically assessed. The male was agreeable and allowed the paramedics to examine him.
