Fort Frances – Theft of Credit Card Results in Charges

FORT FRANCES – An man was arrested and charged with credit card fraud in Fort Frances. The Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called after a resident discovered a theft had taken place overnight.

OPP say that a credit card was stolen from a vehicle on Second Street East in Fort Frances. The credit card was subsequently used to purchase several items from various businesses in the downtown area. The investigation conducted revealed a suspect.

On July 22, 2019 officers located and arrested the suspect in this incident.

Randy LINKLATER (39) of COUCHICHING FIRST NATION was charged criminally with

  • 1 Count of possess property obtained by crime; and
  • 5 Counts of use credit card obtained by crime.

The OPP is committed to community safety. Members of the public are urged to report credit card thefts so the police can make an appropriate response. If you find that you have been a victim of this type of crime call 1-888-310-1122 to make a report.

Members of the public are also reminded to ensure that your vehicle is locked when parked, especially overnight and that all money and credit cards are removed or hidden from sight.
