Winnipeg Police Arrest Homicide Suspect

WINNIPEG – NEWS – Winnipeg has had twenty-five homicides so far this year.

Winnipeg Police Homicide detectives have made an arrest in the murder of Christopher Helstrom, 27.

Philip William Bennett, 46, has been charged with:
– Second Degree Murder

He was detained in custody.

As previously released:
On July 13, 2019, at approximately 5:25 p.m., Winnipeg Police General Patrol Units responded to a report of a male assaulted in the hallway of an apartment block the 600 block of Flora Ave. The victim, a male in his twenties, was transported to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

The victim has been identified as Christopher Helstrom, 27, of Teulon, Manitoba.

In the early morning hours of July 15 homicide detectives arrested a suspect in relation to this murder. He remains in custody, however, charges he has not been charged at this time.
