Woman Charged with Assault with a Weapon

THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Police Service officers were dispatched to a pharmacy in the 100 block of North Cumberland Street following reports of an assault with a knife in progress just after noon on Thursday, July 11, 2019.

When police arrived the accused had already fled the area.

Through the course of their investigation officers learned the victim was waiting at the pharmacy counter when he was approached by the female accused. The female was digging through the victim’s backpack before presenting a knife.

A struggle ensued between the victim and accused. A bystander and pharmacy staff intervened to stop the assault.

Officers located and arrested the accused in an area on Tupper Street between Cumberland and Court Streets just before 12:30 pm.

The victim sustained minor injuries as a result of the assault. Both victim and accused are known to each other.

Jessica Robin WENJACK, 34, of Thunder Bay, is charged with Assault with a Weapon. She appeared in court Friday and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.

None of the charges have been proven in court.
