THUNDER BAY – Officers with the Thunder Bay Police Service arrested a 25-year-old Thunder Bay man on Friday, June 14 for possessing and distributing child pornography

Investigators with the service’s Cyber Crimes Unit received reports of child pornography being uploaded via social media and messaging services in March 2019.

Police were able to confirm that illicit images had been uploaded in February 2019 via a social media messaging app and on another social media platform days later.

As a result of the investigation, police learned the identity of the person who owned both accounts. Further investigation revealed the owner of both social media accounts was in possession of the uploaded illicit material.

On June 14 police executed a search warrant on a north side residence, which led to the seizure of child pornography.

Skyler Jay KING, 25, of McKibbin Street, Thunder Bay is charged with Possession of Child Pornography, Importing and Distributing Child Pornography x2.

He appeared in court Saturday morning and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date. None of the charges have been proven in court.
