Kirkland Lake Woman Murdered

KIRKLAND LAKE – NEWS – On March 23, 2019, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Kirkland Lake Detachment responded to a call for service on Algonquin Avenue in the Town of Kirkland Lake, Ontario. Officers arrived on scene and located a deceased female victim.

The victim has been identified as Brenda LAUTAOJA, 68 years of age, from Kirkland Lake, Ontario.

As a result of the investigation, Troy LAUTAOJA, 33 years of age, from Kirkland Lake, Ontario, has been charged with;

  • Second Degree Murder, contrary to section 235(1) of the Criminal Code.

The accused has been remanded into custody, pending bail, and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Temiskaming Shores on March 25, 2019.

The investigation is continuing under the direction of Detective Inspector Laura Houliston of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), with the assistance of the North East Region OPP Crime Unit, the North East Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), the North East Region OPP Canine Unit (K9), the North East Region OPP Regional Support Team (RST), and the North East Region OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS).
