Dryden Drug Seizure Takes Crystal Meth, Coke, and Oxy off Streets

DRYDEN – Police have executed a search warrant in Dryden that has resulted in the seizure of Crystal Meth, Cocaine, Oxycodone, and cash.

On March 21, 2019, at approximately 10:57 am CDT, officers from the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, Community Street Crime Unit and the Dryden Police Service executed a search warrant at a residence in the City of Dryden.

As a result of the search warrant, Police seized 327 grams of Crystal Methamphetamine, 607 grams of cocaine, 136 Oxycodone pills and a large sum of Canadian Currency. The estimated value of the drugs seized is $128,140.00. The seized drugs were intended to be sold by the accused in Dryden, Sioux Lookout and Lac Seul First Nations.

John BAIRD, 47 years old of Dryden, ON has been charged with:

  1. Possession for the purposes of trafficking – Methamphetamine contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act.
  2. Possession of a Schedule I substance – Oxycodone for the purpose of trafficking contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act.
  3. Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act.
  4. Possession of Property obtained by Crime over $5000 contrary to Section 354(1) (a) of the Criminal Code.

The accused was held in custody and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on March 22, 2019, to answer to the charges. None of the charges have been proven in court.
