Accident on Highway 11/17 Results in Charges

THUNDER BAY – NEWS – An early morning accident has resulted in charges for the driver of a tractor-trailer.

On February 13, 2019 at approximately 7:05 a.m., officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision that occurred on Highway 11/17, east of Copenhagen Road.

The driver of a tractor-trailer unit (tanker truck) was westbound on Highway 11/17 when the driver entered the centre ditch (median) of the divided highway. The tractor portion of the vehicle remained upright but the trailer portion disconnected and rolled over. The tanker was carrying non- hazardous material and the tanker did not leak. There were no injuries reported.

The male driver was charged with Unsafe Move contrary to section 154(1)(a) of the Highway Traffic Act.
