OTTAWA – POLITICS – Timmins James Bay MP Charlie Angus was up in the House of Commons on Thursday raising the issue of housing and the state of emergency in Cat Lake First Nation.

The New Democrat MP is stating that the Liberal Government is not taking the crisis seriously and are simply paying lip service to the issues facing the Northern Ontario Indigenous community.

During Question Period in the House of Commons on January 31, 2019, Angus stated that the Indigenous Services Minister Seamus O’Regan’s response to the crisis in Cat Lake where 100% of the homes have serious issues with mould and electrical problems was to send up a “Grab Bag from Home Depot” that included light fixture covers for the switches.
