Police Make Fast Work to Arrest Mac’s Robbery Suspect

THUNDER BAY – Extremely fast work by the Thunder Bay Police Service has resulted in the arrest of a suspect in a Mac’s Convenience Store robbery on Friday. Thunder Bay Police Service report,  “Officers were dispatched to a southside convenience store following reports of a robbery on Friday, Nov. 16 at about 9:22 pm.

It took three minutes for police to collar the suspect.

When officers arrived at the Mac’s Convenience store in the 700 block of Simpson Street they were given the description of a male who had entered the business with a knife and attempted to rob the store clerks.

At about 9:25 pm investigating officers located a male matching the description of the suspect.

Blake Nicholas Kowalchu, 33-years of age of Thunder Bay has now been charged with Robbery, Uttering Threats x 2, and Failing to Comply with Condition Undertaking.

He appeared in court, was remanded into custody and was expected to appear again on Monday.

None of the charges have been proven in court.
