THUNDER BAY – SPORTS – The Lakehead Thunderwolves will battle the Royal Military College Paladins in a two-game series at the Fort William Gardens this weekend, with the opening face-off set for 7:00 pm on both Friday and Saturday nights.

The Matchup

Lakehead: 2-2 OUA, 6-3 overall

RMC: 2-4 OUA, 3-8 overall

Previous results

After falling 8-1 in the first of a two-game set, the Wolves rallied to defeat the No. 8 ranked McGill Redmen 7-5 in Montreal last Saturday.

RMC dropped a pair of home games last weekend, losing 3-1 to Brock on Friday before being blanked 4-0 by Guelph the following evening.

Series history

Lakehead is 12-1-1 all-time versus the Royal Military College, but the most recent matches between the two schools were closely contested.  In November 2016, the Wolves went on the road and edged the Paladins by scores of 2-1 and 1-0.

Throwing his hat in the ring

Josh Laframboise got a hat trick in Lakehead’s win over McGill last Saturday and is now tied with Daniel Del Paggio for the lead in team scoring with five goals apiece.  Del Paggio previously recorded a hat trick of his own versus Nipissing on September 28.

About the Paladins

Located in Kingston, Ontario, the Royal Military College plays in the OUA East Division and currently sits in 9th place in the standings.

The Paladins’ most dangerous threats on offense are forwards Deric Boudreau, Alex MacDonald and Rhett Wilcox.  Rearguards Nicholas Boddy and David Savery chip in from the back end, and goaltender Brad Van Schubert enters the weekend with an impressive .927 save percentage in OUA play.
