THUNDER BAY – NEWS – Over the next two days there are likely to be events and disruptions caused by inclement weather.

This article will be updated as events, closures and other disruptions are known.

Elementary Cross Country Running Postponed…Again!

The Elementary Cross Country Running Races re-scheduled for Thursday, October 11 at Current River Recreation Area have been postponed until Friday, October 12 due to poor weather conditions.

If anyone has some pull with Mother Nature, we would appreciate it if you could help us out with getting some better weather.

School Buses in Dryden – Kenora – Ignace

Please be advised that school buses have been CANCELLED  for the day for the following areas:

DRYDEN/VERMILION BAY  (Iron Range and Hutchison Bus Lines)

SIOUX LOOKOUT  (Iron Range Bus Lines)

UPSALA TO IGNACE Hwy Run – (Schneider Bus Lines – formerly Wray Bus Lines)

Buses ARE running in:

Kenora/Sioux Narrows  (First Student)

Upsala local run  (Schneider Bus Lines)

Ignace local run  (Iron Range Bus Lines)

Red Lake/Ear Falls with exception for the Perrault Falls to Ear Falls segment for RL1 (Hutchison Bus Lines)

We realize that in some areas where cancellations have occurred, conditions are may be still acceptable for school bus travel, however the forecasted weather/storm plus winds/visibility and accumulation present issues with getting the students home. As well, we factor in the clearing/salting/sanding capacities of the municipalities, Road Contractors and local Roads Boards.   Please know that we make the best decision possible with the information available to us.

We will continue to monitor the Kenora and Red Lake areas in the event that an early bus dismissal becomes necessary.

Air Travel

While the weather may not impact Thunder Bay International Airport, it is possible travelers heading north from Thunder Bay, Sioux Lookout or Pickle Lake Airports could be impacts. Travelers are asked to check with their airlines; North Star Air, Cargo North Wasaya Airways LP, Bearskin Bearskin Air, and Thunder Airlines. As well, Air Canada, Westjet, and Porter Air fly into the Thunder Bay International Airport.

SIJHL announces the postponement of tonight’s North Stars – GM Ice Dogs game in Thunder Bay

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League has announced that tonight’s scheduled contest (October 10) between the Thunder Bay North Stars and the Dryden GM Ice Dogs has been postponed.

The cause for the postponement is of the result of inclement weather being forecast in Dryden and surrounding area as well as poor road conditions for travel along the Trans Canada Highway.

A make-up date for both postponed game will be announced once finalized.
