THUNDER BAY – All locations of the Thunder Bay Public Library will be closed on Thursday, September 20, 2018, for an annual staff development day.

Library staff will be joined by Anishinabek Employment and Training Services (AETS) staff for this day-long training opportunity.  Participants will learn about the history of our land by taking part in the Kairos Blanket Exercise, facilitated by staff from Lakehead University’s Office of Aboriginal Initiatives. There will be other workshops offered as well, including working with individuals experiencing homelessness and thriving in an intergenerational workforce.
This annual staff development day is the one time during the year that all permanent full time and part time staff can gather together to be inspired, learn and grow together. This year will also give Library staff and AETS staff the opportunity to get to know one another better as AETS staff settle into the new community hubs at Waverley and Brodie.
Library service will be impacted for one day only and we remind the community that our Web site contains a vast online ‘virtual’ library of databases, car and home improvement manuals, ebooks, audiobooks and so much more.  It’s available 24 / 7 at www.tbpl.ca
