Man was covered in cooking oil

THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Police Service officers responded to a call at about 8:40 p.m. on Sunday, August 26, 2018. in the area of Cumberland and Pearl Streets to check on the welfare of a half-dressed male wandering into traffic.

As officers arrived they found a male who appeared to be intoxicated and covered it what was believed to be cooking oil.

When officers approached the male fled to a Pearl Street residence and entered. The male and the occupants of the residence were unknown to each other, and the male refused to leave the dwelling.

Police arrived a short time later and the male became more aggressive. and attempted to strike an officer.

The male was eventually arrested and charged with Assaulting a Peace Officer, Resist Peace Officer, Forcible Entry and Probation Order: Non-Compliance.

He was released with a future court date.
