OPP Respond to Collision on Highway 1/17 in Pass Lake

OPP have laid a number of charges in a stolen vehicle investigation

THUNDER BAY – NEWS – On July 15, 2018, at approximately 1:14 pm, officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Shuniah Fire and Emergency Services, Pass Lake Fire Department and Superior North Emergency Medical Service (EMS) responded to a collision that occurred on Highway 11/17 in the Municipality of Shuniah.

A pick-up truck drove onto Highway 11/17, departing from the driveway of a local business in Pass Lake. The truck collided with a passenger van that was westbound on Highway 11/17.

The male driver of the van was transported to the hospital by air ambulance. He sustained non-life threatening injuries. Four occupants of the van were transported to the hospital by land ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

The four occupants of the truck did not sustain injuries.

The 18-year-old male driver of the truck was charged with Fail to Yield from Private Driveway contrary to section 139(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.
