Too many drivers seem to be willing to risk it when it comes to impaired driving

SIOUX LOOKOUT – The Sioux Lookout Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted 21 RIDE checks between Friday, December 8 and Sunday, December 10, 2017.

As a result, four people have been charged with various offences.

  • A 26-year-old male from Sioux Lookout was charged with operating a motor vehicle with over 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milliliters of blood, being a novice driver with a blood alcohol content over zero and being a class G1 license holder with no accompanied driver.
  • A 19-year-old male from Sioux Lookout was charged with refusal to provide a breath sample as well as resisting arrest.
  • A 31-year-old female from WAWAKAPEWIN was charged with driving with a suspended drivers license, failing to have a toddler in a child seat and failing to surrender proof of insurance.
  • A 50-year-old male from ZELAND Township was charged with driving without a license.

Police are asking anyone that sees a suspected impaired driver to phone 9-1-1 and report it to police.
