Toronto, ON – The Lakehead Thunderwolves men’s basketball team (0-9) were defeated 85-69 by the University of Toronto Varsity Blues (6-4) tonight at the Goldring Centre for High-Performance Sport in Toronto.

Toronto held a small lead, 20-18, after 10 minutes and continued on in the second with a huge push that gave the Blues a 44-30 lead at halftime.

Lakehead closed the gap in the third quarter, outscoring the Blues 23-15, but still, Toronto took a 59-53 lead going into the final quarter. U of T sealed the win with a dominant fourth quarter performance (26-16) finishing the game off with the 85-69 victory.

“Our guys did a great job adjusting in the 3rd quarter and cut there lead to 4. Couple mistakes in the 4th and Toronto capitalized with making some big three’s,” says Coach Manny Furtado.

Lakehead’s Kache Kopec led all players tonight with 24 points. Mor Menashe had 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Nick Burke put up 10 points, respectively.

The Thunderwolves are back at it again tomorrow at 8pm against Ryerson in their last game going into the exam break.
