Giving Tuesday

Giving TuesdayTHUNDER BAY – Giving Tuesday is a National Giving Day, directly after the big sales of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. It’s a day where you can rally behind and donate to your favourite cause, like the Health Sciences Foundation!

Every year at Christmas, donors like you graciously make gifts in support of our Christmas Wish List campaign. This year, once again, we are focusing our holiday fundraising on pieces of vital medical equipment that are needed at the Health Sciences Centre to deliver reliable, safe patient care every day.

On Tuesday, Nov 28, you can make a real difference during our 24-hour raise-a-thon! That’s when we’ll be kicking off our Wish List Campaign with Giving Tuesday. For this day only, it’s your chance to make a donation and have it matched dollar-for-dollar thanks to the generosity of Maurice and Jackie Black (up to $4,000).

This year, our goal is to raise $13,000 in just 24 hours – enough to purchase two new Bili Blankets for our NICU and Maternal Newborn departments (a cost of $6,500 each). A Bili Blanket is a portable phototherapy device that provides treatment for newborns who have jaundice. As opposed to being placed in a special bed for treatment, babies can be cuddled while treatment is given – a terrific improvement to care.
