Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested in Whitesand

ARMSTRONG – The OPP Detachment in Armstrong report that on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at approximately 9:48 pm, officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at a local business on Whitesand First Nation. Officers attended and arrested the accused at the scene. There were no injuries reported.

Alexis WANAKAMIK, a twenty-two-year-old female from Thunder Bay was arrested and charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code:

  • Robbery with a Weapon contrary to section 344(1)(b),
  • Assault contrary to section 266,
  • Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose contrary to section 88.

She was held in custody for a video court appearance and was remanded to the Thunder Bay Correctional Centre.
