Inquest Date for Cody Thompson-Hardy Announced

THUNDER BAY – Dr. Michael Wilson, Regional Supervising Coroner for North Region, Thunder Bay Office, today announced that a new date for the inquest into the death of Cody Thompson-Hardy has been scheduled.

Mr. Thompson-Hardy, 18, died on Aug. 19, 2011 at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre following a transfer from the Thunder Bay District Jail. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Thompson-Hardy’s death.

The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.

The inquest is expected to last up to five days and to hear from approximately 20 witnesses.

The inquest will now begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 16, 2017 at the Ontario Government Building, 189 Red River Rd., Thunder Bay. Dr. David Cameron will preside as inquest coroner and Prabhu Rajan and Julian Roy will be counsel to the coroner.
