THUNDER BAY – SPORTS – The weather was almost as hot at the tennis at the Thunder Bay Tennis Club.

Action from day 2 of the Mid Canada Open at the Thunder Bay Tennis Club saw competitors slugging it out on Saturday under a sweltering 34 C with the humidex this afternoon. Semi finals will conclude this evening with the finals in multiple Men’s, Women’s and doubles categories scheduled for Sunday.

4th seed Malik Bhatnagar (white), from Ottawa, defeated 6th seed Washi Gervais (green) of Longueuil, Quebec in the Men’s Singles quarter finals.  18 yr old Bhatnagar beat the 23 yr old Gervais in straight sets 7-5 and 6-2.

Bryce Bodak 15 (in blue) of Thunder Bay, defeated Seth Broersma 15 (in grey) in the following match in the Boy’s U-18 category.
