Intoxicated Driver Hits Winnipeg Avenue Home

THUNDER BAY – NEWS – Thunder Bay Police report that a twenty-four-year-old Oliver Paipoonge man faces charges of Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Operating a Motor Vehicle with over 80mgs of alcohol in his blood.

The charges come following a collision between his vehicle and house in the 100 block of Winnipeg Avenue that happened early Sunday morning.

Police report that officers responded to the incidentat approximately 5:40AM EDT after a report of pickup truck with a driver slumped over the wheel.  Upon arrival, officers found two male occupants of the vehicle who appeared to be intoxicated.  Both had minor injuries but they did not require hospitalization.

The twenty-four-year-old driver has been charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Operating a Motor Vehicle with over 80 mgs of Alcohol.  The twenty-eight-year-old passenger was charged with a provincial offence of Public Intoxication.

Police state that they have no word on the extent of the damages to the house.
