Fort Severn is under a BLIZZARD Warning

FORT SEVERN – Winter weather is maintaining a strong grip on Northern Ontario. Environment Canada has a BLIZZARD Warning in effect for the communities along the James Bay coast.

Blizzard warning in effect for:

  • Fort Severn
  • Peawanuck

Blizzard conditions with poor visibility in snow and blowing snow are expected or occurring.

This will impact flight conditions – if you are planning air travel to or from the communities it is likely very important to contact your air carrier to ensure flights.

Blizzard conditions and severe winds beginning this morning and ending this evening.

An intensifying low pressure system is spinning over Hudson Bay today.

West to northwest winds will increase to 60 km/h gusting to 90 this morning. These winds are expected to produce blizzard conditions and falling temperatures. Conditions will improve this evening as the winds start to diminish.
