Mississauga Tops Thunder Bay in OHL Cup action

TORONTO – Jamieson Rees’ second goal of the game, 5:14 into the third period was the game-winner as the Mississauga Reps rallied to defeat the Thunder Bay minor midget Kings 3-2 Wednesday evening at the 2017 OHL Cup Showcase Tournament in Toronto.

Thunder Bay did get off to a solid start in the contest as they grabbed a 2-0 lead after the opening stanza on a pair of Owen Belisle markers in the latter stages of the frame, including one on the power play with 95 seconds remaining.

Mississauga countered with two of the own in the middle the session from Rees and Aaron Jamieson to knot the affair at 2-2.

Rees then completed the comeback with his marker in the final session.

Mike Petizian assisted on all three Reps’ tallies.

With the result, Mississauga improved to 2-0 while theKings slipped to 0-2.

After an off-day Thursday, the clubs return to the ice twice Friday.

First up will be a 9:45 a.m. match-up with a strong Toronto Marlboros side before the Kings conclude the round robin against the Ajax-Pickering Raiders at 3:30 p.m.

The top two teams, in each of the four divisions, will move on to the quarter-finals Saturday.
