THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – TRAVEL by road and air across Northwestern Ontario will be impacted this morning by fog. Heavy fog has caused delays at the Thunder Bay International Airport, as well as highway travel across the region.

In the Upsala region school buses have been cancelled due to heavy fog conditions.

Environment Canada has issued a fog advisory for the southern parts of Northwestern Ontario:

Fog advisory in effect for:

  • City of Thunder Bay
  • Kenora – Lake of the Woods
  • Vermillion Bay
  • Dryden – Sioux Lookout
  • Fort Frances
  • Pickle Lake – Savant Lake
  • Nipigon – Red Rock
  • Atikokan

Near zero visibility in fog is expected or occurring.

Areas of dense fog have developed and are expected to dissipate later this morning.

Visibility may be significantly and suddenly reduced to near zero. If travelling, be prepared for areas of near-zero visibility. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance.

Fog advisories are issued when near zero visibilities in fog are expected or occurring.
