PGA TOUR Canada Staal Foundation Open Set for Whitewater
THUNDER BAY – The Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada Staal Foundation Open is set for July 10-16 2017 at the fabulous Whitewater Golf Course. Tournament officials unveiled the new Board of Directors along with an overview of the tournament for the next two years.
Tbaytel President and CEO Dan Topatigh shared that Tbaytel will continue as the event’s presenting sponsor through 2018. “Tbaytel is thrilled to share in the announcement that we will once again be partnering with the Staal Foundation Open as the tournament’s presenting sponsor,” enthused the Tbaytel leader. “If the results of the first three years are any indication of what’s next for the Staal Foundation Open, presented by Tbaytel, I have no doubt that our shared commitment to support our community through economic development, community growth, promotion of the sport of golf and perhaps more importantly the benefit of giving back through charitable donations will only continue as we go forward.”
This is the fourth year that the Staal family and the Staal Foundation are backing the tournament at the Whitewater Golf Club as the title sponsor of the event.
“We are proud to continue our support of this incredible community event,” states Eric Staal. “We are definitely ready for more and we are absolutely honoured to be a part of the Staal Foundation Open presented by Tbaytel for the fourth year”.
“The City of Thunder Bay finds tremendous value in its collaborative partnership with the Staal Foundation Open presented by Tbaytel. The tournament is an economic engine, providing spectators with a solid, high-quality tournament. Our hotels, restaurants, and businesses benefit greatly from the stream of visitors, and the city’s name is profiled in national and international media, in the most positive light;” says Mayor Keith Hobbs, City of Thunder Bay.
“Each year, the Staal Foundation Open presented by Tbaytel has proven to be a model event on the Mackenzie Tour. It continues to be not only a premiere sporting event, but most importantly a catalyst for positively impacting the community, and we’re looking forward to a fantastic event in 2017.” said Mackenzie Tour President Jeff Monday.
At today’s announcement, Staal Foundation Open representatives also announced its inaugural Board of Directors, a roster of dedicated community volunteers that will lead the planning and execution of the event.
