OTTAWA – POLITICAL – An all-party delegation of Canadian parliamentarians will attend the ParlAmericas 13th Annual Plenary Assembly from December 5 – 7, in Mexico City, Mexico.

This year’s Assembly, which brings together parliamentarians from all 35 countries in the hemisphere, focuses on finding ways to align approaches to implementing the United Nation’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Adopted in September 2016, by 193 UN member states, these goals set a path for combatting global poverty, inequality, and climate change.

The Canadian delegation will be led by the Hon. Robert D. Nault, M.P., P.C., Chair of the Canadian Section of ParlAmericas. Other members of the delegation include the Hon. Tobias C. Enverga Jr., Senator, the Hon. Mobina Jaffer, Senator, Mr. François Choquette, M.P., Mr. Randy Hoback, M.P., and Mr. Marc Serré, M.P.

“I look forward to discussing Canada’s commitment to a future free of poverty, a future that provides equal access to employment, education, and health care, and a future that ensures gender equality,” stated Nault. “I know Prime Minister Trudeau is fully committed to these goals and we are working hard with stakeholders to support the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.”

Founded 15 years ago in Ottawa, ParlAmericas plays a key role in furthering hemispheric dialogue, as it is one of the few forums that brings together parliamentarians from across the Americas and the Caribbean.

As the only interparliamentary association headquartered in Ottawa, ParlAmericas represents an important resource for parliamentarians and hemispheric observers alike.
