THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – Thunder Bay is set it appears to start winter. Environment Canada is calling for as much as 30 cm of the white stuff through Saturday morning.

Snowfall warning in effect for:

  • City of Thunder Bay

15 to 30 cm of snow and local blowing snow expected from Friday through Saturday morning.

Latest indications suggest that rain will change to snow late overnight or Friday morning. The snow will continue throughout the day and will likely become heavy at times in the afternoon and evening. Some ice pellets may mix in as well. Gusty north winds will result in local blowing snow.

Total snowfall amounts of 15 to 30 cm are likely by Saturday morning, with the highest amounts expected inland from Lake Superior.

Rapidly accumulating snow will make travel difficult. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.
