$900K Seized in Major Drug Operation Raids

Thunder Bay PoliceTHUNDER BAY – CRIMEBEAT – The Thunder Bay Police have announced a major drug bust.

In a media release, TBPS state, “On the evening of Friday May 27, 2016, the Thunder Bay Police Service Intelligence Unit in co-operation with the Ontario Ministry of Finance, the Manitoba Ministry of Finance and the Ontario Provincial Police concluded a six month undercover operation targeting the large scale trafficking and smuggling of marihuana and cigarettes. Controlled Drug and Substances Act Search Warrants were executed at two North Side addresses as well as the business known as Pawn City located at 250 Red River Rd”.

As a result of this investigation approximately $900,000.00 in marihuana and hash oil has been seized along with $8200.00 in illegal cigarettes as well as $13,000.00 cash and one long arm gun.

Offence related property seized includes a 2013 Volvo transport truck, a 2015 Jeep Cherokee, a 2012 GMC Denali and a 2012 Prowler Travel Trailer.

Steven LALONDE 38 years of Thunder Bay:  faces two counts of Trafficking in Marihuana, Possession of Marihuana for the purpose of Trafficking, Trafficking in Unstamped Tobacco x3against the Excise Act and Trafficking in Unstamped Tobacco x 3 against the Criminal Code.

Sam ELLIOT 51 years of Caledon: Charged with Possession for the purpose of Trafficking in Marihuana and Trafficking in Marihuana.

Both have been remanded into custody.  Their next court date is Tuesday May 31, 2016.

A third 56 year old Thunder Bay Male has been charged with Trafficking in Marihuana, Trafficking in Unstamped Tobacco x 2 against the Excise Act, Trafficking in Unstamped Tobacco x 2 against the Criminal Code he has been released with a future Court date.
