THUNDER BAY – The highway closure that has been in place due to forest fire hazard on Highway 584 north of Geraldton will be lifted at 13:00 on Wednesday May 25.

MNRF is cautioning all drivers that there are firefighting staff and equipment still working along the right of way. We ask that drivers drive slowly through the work area and be aware of workers in the area to avoid putting them at risk.

Also, there may be short interruptions to traffic required to allow for ongoing work to be carried out safely. We urge the public to avoid going to see the fire damage.

Construction signs will be placed along the highway – including some that post the speed limit as 50 km per hour.
