Burning Permits Suspended

THUNDER BAY – NEWS – “In light of present conditions, for the safety of the citizens of Thunder Bay suspending burning permits at this time is a prudent action,” said Deputy Fire Chief Greg Hankkio. “The burning ban is consistent with restrictions presently in place by the MNR, and this action will alleviate any mixed messaging regarding fire bans in the area surrounding the City of Thunder Bay.”

The COTB in a statement: Please be advised that effective immediately, all fire permits have been suspended until further notice and no open burning will be allowed in the City. As a the result of the potential for extreme fire behavior through the long weekend, the Ministry of Natural Resources has requested that Thunder Bay Fire Rescue suspend all burning permits and re-instate the burning ban.
We appreciate the community’s cooperation and will advise when the suspension of permits and the fire ban is lifted.
