NAPS Makes Drug Bust in Attawapiskat

ATTAWAPISKAT – CRIME – On April 30, 2016, members of the Attawapiskat Detachment assisted by the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service Drug Unit initiated an investigation under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Police investigation led to the seizure of Marihuana with a northern street value of six thousand four hundred seventy-six ($6,476.00) dollars.

22 year-old Shalyn STEPHEN of Attawapiskat First Nation has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

A second person has also been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, however, cannot be named due to the provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Attawapiskat First Nation is located approximately 630 kilometres north of Timmins, Ontario.
