Moving Forward with Education

THUNDER BAY – Ontario Regional Chief Isadore Day updated the Chiefs of Ontario Education Symposium after a meeting with the federal Minister Carolyn Bennett.

Chief Day said that the mood is to not waste time, and to move forward quickly.

Several tables will be formed with the Minister, and what was discussed is that there must be work done across Ontario with the remote communities and the urban communities bring their needs and plans together.

Chief Day reported is that Minister Bennett will work with the Chiefs of Ontario and with First Nations.

Chief Day has been working on several levels on this issues, and promises that there will be a focus on the needs at the local levels, not a “Pan-Ontario Approach”.

Building an all inclusive network and process is needed. “We are all going to have to work together in a circle,” stated the Ontario Regional Chief.
