Thunder Bay Police Investigating Social Media Threat at Lakehead University

Lakehead UniversityTHUNDER BAY – UPDATED – Thunder Bay Police Service report that they were contacted just before 11:30PM EST last night by Lakehead University Security Services to investigate a potential anonymous social media threat.

Police have made an arrest in the incident.  Police have arrested an eighteen-year-old male student at 11:12AM EST without incident at Lakehead University in conjunction with the threats investigation that was ongoing today.

The male has been charged with Mischief. The investigation is ongoing.

 

The Criminal Investigations Branch is currently investigating the nature and origin of the threat. Police resources have been deployed to the university campus as a precaution.

The Thunder Bay Police are working closely with the University to deal with this issue to ensure the safety of the university community.

Lakehead University Senior Administration has advised that the University remains open and classes are continuing.
