8th Annual Northwestern Ontario Immigration Forum


THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay Multicultural Association, Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Corporation & Réseau du Nord are the co-presenters as part of National Francophone Immigration Week 1-7 Nov 2015.

The Forum starts at 9:00AM at the Italian Cultural Centre in Thunder Bay with a panel presentation of four immigrant stories followed by a community consultation on Welcoming. This will be followed by our keynote address at 12 noon, Cathy Murphy, Executive Director from The Eamonn O’Loghlin Irish Canadian Immigration Centre. Her address will cover a brief history of Irish immigration to Canada with a focus on Ontario; review the critical paths skilled Irish take to come to Canada; map current immigration trends, and address some of the barriers to settlement.

Newcomer Employment Recruitment Fair runs 5pm to 7pm. This is the second year for this portion of the event, it not just a job fair with jobs but a way for newcomers already here, university and college students to meet employers an engage in networking for future jobs, learn the benefits of transferable skills.
