THUNDER BAY – NEWS – Thunder Bay Mayor Keith Hobbs shares insights into the latest going on at City Hall.

The Mayor along with Councillor Shelby Ch’ng were examining accessibility this week.

The Mayor says that although Thunder Bay does well, there are lots of areas for improvement. Even getting to City Hall, the Mayor noted the climb is tough in a wheelchair.

The Mayor shares that dealing with housing and homelessness is a top priority for the city.

Additionally, the Mayor shares that the Waterfront Master Plan as supported by Council on Monday Night is a 15 – 20 year plan that is designed to open up the waterfront to more people.

Looking forward, Mayor Hobbs says that the efforts to find the next City Manager have a wide – national and international net out there to find a replacement for Tim Commisso.

Making the rounds on social media this week is a video of former Mayor Walter Assef. Mayor Hobbs says if he were to behave that way today he would likely be arrested.

On a long standing issue, a Costco in Thunder Bay, the Mayor says that there should be an announcement by October.

The Mayor, looking at the overall progress of this Council says he would give Council a grade of ‘C’ on the overall, but an ‘A’ on infrastructure.
