OTTAWA – ELECTION 2015 –  Today the Federal Liberals are charging that Stephen Harper is blaming everyone but himself for his economic mismanagement. The Liberals in a media statement say the data shows Canada’s economy is trailing its G7 partners and even the vast majority of the G20:

  • According to this week’s Canadian Economic Outlook report, published by the Bank of Montreal, Canada was the worst performing economy in the G7 in the first quarter of this year.
  • The Bank of Montreal and the OECD have said that Canada is at the bottom of the pack when it comes to the economic performance of advanced industrialized economies.
  • Canada’s performance against of the world’s largest 20 economies does not improve the picture. The only countries performing worse are the Russian Federation – whose economy is crippled under the weight of economic sanctions – and Brazil, a country suffering from runaway public debt and an inflation crisis.
  • Despite Harper’s denials, Canada’s major banks have said that Canada is currently in a recession, while the U.S. economy is growing.

Despite the facts, Harper is still misleading Canadians about the recession and the deficit.

Just like with the Mike Duffy-PMO scandal, Stephen Harper is not telling Canadians the truth. He cannot be trusted.
